Vanessa Graning
I am originally from Lima, Peru. I graduated in 1997, from University of the Sacred Heart of Mary in Lima with a bachelor's degree in Education with an emphasis in Early Childhood Education almost 20 years ago. After graduation, I started teaching at an English Immersion School. In 2005 I followed my dream, teaching in another country. I joined Ellen Hopkins Elementary, MN in its Spanish Immersion program. While there I met my husband Andy. Shortly after getting married in 2008, we returned to Peru. Two years later we moved back to the United States and welcomed our first daughter Annika into the world. Annika is also enrolled in the Spanish Immersion program this year as a Kindergartener. In 2015 the Graning's added Sophia to their family. I began teaching 2nd grade in the SFSD in 2013. Two of my greatest passions are working with young children and sharing my language.

Kayla Hathaway Some of my favorite students are those who don't think they have a creative bone in their body. It's always so exhilarating when they complete a project. They proudly say 'I made this!' Experiencing this transformation first hand invigorates and inspires me to teach.

I have been playing guitar and bass professionally in Sioux Falls for the past 30 years. I also perform throughout the area and is happy to share his knowledge and love of music with students at two of our locations. With a B.A. from SDSU and a M.A. from Augustana, both in education, I love to motivate & reach students of all ages. I teach students ages 6 through adults, beginners and experienced. He teaches acoustic, bass and electric guitar. Two years ago I began teaching himself Ukulele and Banjo by using the same methodologies used in teaching others. Students with electric guitar will need to bring their own amp to practice.
Leticia Miranda-Blanco

Sra. Miranda was born and raised in Vigo, in the northwestern and celtic region of Galicia, Spain. There, both Spanish and Galician are the official languages; therefore, she has firsthand experience of what learning in an immersion setting feels like. She earned both a BA and MA in English Language and Literature, and another MA in Applied Linguistics and Teaching Spanish; she has a passion for languages and language acquisition! During her college years she attended the University of Vigo in Spain, the University of Helsinki in Finland, and the University of South Dakota; which helped her understand different cultures and grow as a global citizen. Sra. Miranda started teaching English as a Foreign Language as an undergraduate, and taught K-12, as well as adults, for several years in Spain. This is her third year with our Spanish Immersion program, where she started off as a third grade teacher; she is now part of the fifth grade team. Sra. Miranda loves traveling, meeting new places and people, and also music, technology, coffee, and cats! She is a proud member of the Sonia Sotomayor family.

Glenda & Jeff Pray
Jeff and Glenda have been dancing and teaching ballroom, latin, swing and country dance in the Sioux Falls area since 2008. They studied and taught dance at Ballroom at the Bridges before it closed in 2010 and have owned their own business since then. Not only do they enjoy teaching dance in the studio but they share their love for dance with community groups and charity organizations. Community Education classes give community members options they might not think of or are intimidated by for educational opportunities, making them convenient and inclusive. We think this ballroom dance class would be a perfect fit for Community Ed to make folks aware of the dance opportunities in Sioux Falls and the realization that they can participate.

I started Taekwondo when I was 14 yrs. old and now I am 45.... I can let you do the math. I obviously have a love and passion for this! I am a 4th degree black belt and have been teaching for over 25 years now. I "think" that close to, if not over 15 years have now been with Community Education in Sioux Falls. I have the pleasure of teaching students the aspects of Respect, Confidence, and Discipline. I cannot think of many things in my life that has been more gratifying than the companionship and connection that I have through this experience.
